This newsletter contains affiliate links. Not all of them, but some of them. I earn a small commission, and it doesn’t cost you anything. I call that a win-win.
Many moons ago, I graduated with a two-year degree in Electronic Engineering and used that degree to get a job repairing copy machines. I was talking to one of the founding brothers in charge of Sales. He once told me, “You sell the sizzle, not the steak.” What he meant was to sell the benefit, not the feature.
The copiers I fixed had “Micro Toner,” a feature. The benefit was “It made your copies crips and clear.”
So some of the features of podcasting are:
You can listen anywhere
They are free
It’s information you can’t get anywhere else.
Some of the BENEFITS might be:
Solves a problem
Saves you time
Save you money
Improves your life
It provides a sense of belonging and community
It educates or entertains you
Tom Webster (author of The Audience is Listening - one of my favorite books on creating great content) has an article and lists some shows and their descriptions.
If you can describe the benefits of listening to your show, well, who doesn’t want to benefit?
Profit From Your Podcast Audio Book
The updated audio version of the book Profit From Your Podcast is 99.9% done. I need to update the index before recording it (as it’s outdated and primarily talks about technology).
If you buy the book before the end of December 2024 (AS IN NOW), I will give you a shout-out and mention your website at the end of the audiobook.

Podcast Hot Seat Now with a Private Option
Speaking of feedback, based on user feedback, the “Podcast Hotseat” auditing service now has the option to keep the coaching session private (previously, we used it as an episode for the audience to learn along with you and give you more exposure).
Not everyone wants to be coached in public, so now, for an additional fee, you can keep the coaching session private (and keep all the bonuses, like a free month at the School of Podcasting). Check it out.

Stuff That Caught Me Eye
Jotform
Jotform is a super flexible tool used to make forms (and being that I’m still in my “It’s all about the audience survey” mode, this caught my eye. They do have a free version. Their paid version is $39/month.
Clockify
I always tell people to have a timer going on in the background. I love Clockify as it integrates with Todoist, which is my favorite tool for getting organized. I’m using their free version, which also ties into an app.
What’s Coming In The Future
Next School of Podcasting
So last we talk about being open to feedback. This week we are talking about getting people to fill out your survey
