Why Did You Share That?
I'm watching the show Blindspot on Netflix. Why? Because ex-wife number 1 watched and said she liked it many moons ago. I saw it pop up, and watched the first episode. the WHOLE THING is based on, "I wonder what happens next." The primary character has 100% amnesia (well except how to walk, talk, breath, fright, you get the idea) and the journey of the show is to figure out who she is and why she was dropped off in a giant Gym bag in the middle of New York city naked covered in tattoos head to toe.
It's a gigantic brain gap. You want to know more. So how did I hear about this years ago? My ex-wife told me about it. Word of mouth.
This got me to thinking. Our shows don't suck. We don't waste the time of our audience. But we also not hitting home runs that get EVERYONE sharing. We talked about this on Ask the Podcast Coach today, and I'm still thinking.
I know some of it is you want to be the cool kid finding the content before someone else. My brother's birthday is in July, and I found the perfect gift for him and I can't wait to give it to him. As much as it's a present for me, I think a lot of this is how this is making me feel. I'm delivering value, and I know he'll love it, and, he would never buy this for himself.
But for now, the next time you share something, before you hit send, ask yourself WHY. What is it with this piece of content that makes it so that you want to share it?
For now, I've got about 15 hours before I turn on the microphone and spit this out for real on the School of Podcasting. You can say, "I heard (part of) it here first!

5 Podcasters Add Video - Here is what happened
My friend Colin Gray from the Podcast Host talks about five podcasters who added video to their audio show. It's a great video. Check it out. (why am I sharing this? AI can't generate this kind of information, and it's unbiased. Colin is just reporting what happened and why).
Lewis Capaldi - I Can Hear His Feelings When He Sings
I believe I'm late to this game, but just discovered Lewis Capaldi. A Scottish singer songwriter that popped the radio (yes, I somehow found myself listening to an FM station). This guy comes on, and I have a weird expression but I love it when people "Sing blood."
What I mean by that is I can hear their pain, their feelings, etc. The song is "Before you go" and there is just a slight rasp to his voice during th chorus that made me believe the words coming out of his mouth. Here is that word again, but seem authentic. Check it out.
New Pat Flynn Book: Lean Learning: How to Achieve More by Learning Less
I'm only through chapter 1, but I love the idea. Stop learning, and start doing. If you get stuck, go back to learning, but way too often we just stockpile courses and books, and spend days, months, YEARS learning and never taking action. (I currently have 30+ courses waiting for me to consume). Check it out
What’s Coming In The Future
A lot of ingredients in the Stew
I’m somewhat “feelin’” that people overhype their podcast LAUNCH (lots of reverb, and echo LAUNCH AUNCH ....aunch)”. I've to a review of the new Zoom Podtrak P2 coming as well.
