Many new podcasters feel overwhelmed. There seems to be a mountain of things to learn, a giant checklist of things we need to do. I started using a different technique that has made me more productive.
I pick three things (not two, not one) that I want to accomplish. This is not new. I learned three was a magic number when I was eight years old.
This is from a book called Getting Results the Agile Way: A Personal Results System for Work and Life. He mentions picking three things: a day, a week, a month, and a year. For me, first things first, let’s pick those three things in one day.
I have found that I tend to identify that first task and two more that are important. There are only three. If I looked at all the tasks in my Todoist app, I would wet my pants. Here, I’ve chosen only three. Three is doable. When I check off that first task, I’m now 33% done (and it feels GOOD).
What happens if I complete all three tasks and have more time left in the day? I'll grab some more.
You know, that I know,
that you know that I know
there is a long list of things behind the scenes.
If you want to go one step further, there is the 5-minute journal. This app (or paper versions) from a company called Intelligent Change has you select three items you want to complete in the morning. You also list items for which you are grateful. At night, you reflect on your day and your tasks (so it is this process with a bit of gratitude thrown in for fun). It’s always good to appreciate what you have.
So, if you feel there is too much to do, pick three things and get to work. You got this.

Fourth Wall
Fourth Wall is a site that has affordable clothes that you can smack your logo on and sell. I set up a shop in about 10 minutes. I’ve ordered a shirt and hat to determine the quality. The part that caught my eye is that you can also sell digital items there. You can also create a membership site where they only take 5%, whereas Patreon takes around 8-12%. That caught my eye. Typically, I recommend Supercast for private RSS feeds/shows. I’ll let you know what I find.
Podcasting The Safest Bet
To Webster and the folks at Sounds Profitable, have a report if you’re trying to sell ads on your show. In a nutshell, podcasting outperforms everything. You can get the PDF HERE (no email required). Why are so many people saying it’s harder to get buyers to purchase ads in podcasting? This should be like shooting fish in a barrel.
A Thought on AI
I loved this tweet, “I want AI to do my dishes and laundry so that I can do art and writing, no have AI do my writing and art so I can do the dishes and laundry.”
What’s Coming In The Future
I asked my audience what books they read more than once. Why? Well, one, I like to read/listen to books. Also, this may give me some insights into my audience.
