This newsletter contains affiliate links. Not all of them, but some of them. I earn a small commission, and it doesn’t cost you anything. I call that a win-win.
So I’m on vacation before starting my new position at the mystery company (big reveal on the 29th - when I can not only reveal but have some actions for you to take).
I started off shampooing rugs, mopping floors, and to a certain extent freaking out over the size of the things I wanted to do. This was a hindrance to this thing called “relaxing,” so I bumped up some of the fun stuff (rode my bike, took a hike, and sat in my living room and watched a movie). Today, on my hike, I took out the earbuds, sat on a bench at the top of a hill, and enjoyed the breeze. Last night, I watched the sunset. All the house stuff can wait. You only get so many 76-degree sunny, breezy days in Ohio.
You might try it.
Oh, I Hadn’t Thought of That
In other news, if you use WordPress for your website and switch media hosts, there is a good chance you have to update all your episode posts to point to the new player…. . Meanwhile, on the show where I was using Podpage, I redirected the feed, and Podpage did the rest.
You Have All You Need
I see that you can now become a “Certified Podcast Coach” for $2000. Many of the graduates (who had already been podcasting for years) say they feel more confident after being certified. For that kind of money, you can enjoy 20 months at the School of Podcasting (with unlimited coaching), and if you need, I can print you a certificate.

This month, we will have a demo of the ROLL video software, which is pretty cool.

A Replacement For Streamyard Users: EvMux
Streamyard was purchased by the company that bought Evernote (and some say ruined Evernote), which was a great tool for live streaming or doing interviews). Chris Nesi told me to check out EvMux. It is a cross between Streamyard with Ecamm. You can build and customize themes and easily switch from scene to scene as you livestream (or, again, just want to record without going live). EvMux is $25/month (less if you sign up for a year).
I will use Saturday on Ask the Podcast Coach (I’m not dumping Ecamm, but this is impressive). Here is a quick stroll I did through the interface.
Brad Williams Free Comedy Special
Brad Williams is a hilarious comedian and a little person. After seeing both his specials on Amazon, I saw that he was coming to Akron, Ohio. I decided at the last minute to attend. He was amazing. He mentioned a free special on YouTube, and here it is.
What’s Coming In The Future
Podcaster Happy Hour
I started this during COVID-19, and later, we went back to normal. This will be monthly meetings (typically the last Monday of the month) where I will bring in a podcast service to do a demo; then we will follow that up with a networking and Q&A. Get on this list to be notified. This month we are getting a demo of the Roll video recording/editing system (very different).
Rode Interview Pro Mic Review
I’m going to Podcast Movement next month, and the Rode Interview Pro Mic seems like a great-sounding, super-easy way to catch quick interviews on the fly. I’ll be doing a full review soon.
Next School of Podcasting (I think…)
I had someone comment on my backdrop in videos, and all the gear I often have at my feet. She asked, “How much do you spend a month to be Dave Jackson?” so I’m going to explain that answer and how I didn’t start from there I am now.
