Is Your Podcast Lost - Why Are You Asking People to Find it?
Please quit saying, "Find My Podcast"
This newsletter contains affiliate links. Not all of them, but some of them. I earn a small commission and it doesn’t cost you more. I call that a win-win.
For over a decade, I have been telling people to quit saying, “Find me wherever you find podcasts” because people often can’t. The apps only display so many results, and their search is not great. When I put in “Home Pro Podcast,” not only did that show not appear, but comedian Marc Maron did… Huh?
Don’t use these outside services that will make a page with all of your links to the different apps; instead, use them as a time saver. COPY their links for your show on the different apps and recreate the page on YOUR site. This enables you to reinforce YOUR brand. Then, when this service goes out of business (cause there really isn’t a business model in many cases), you don’t have to go to your website and update all of the times you mentioned that service.
You can see what I’m talking about in this video.

Custom Content in Podpage
I have loved Podpage since it launched. You put in your RSS feed and it spits out a website (with no coding). Podpage does provide the ability to add additional pages and customize them. Here is a video where I play with this feature that opens the door to more things than just some episodes on the front page. If you want to learn Podpage for free, check out learnpodpage.com
Roll
This is a new video recorder called Roll that enables you do things such as a “Crain shot” (where the camera zooms over your head, or one of those camera shots where the camera pans left to right - all without having multiple cameras. I’ll be hosting a zoom meeting with one of the co-founders in July. It’s pretty amazing. Check it out.
What’s Coming In The Future
Someone asked me how much I spend each month to create my podcast. It’s more than I thought…
