Finding the Determination to Keep Going

Last week I talked about one way to grow your audience is to not quit.
But how do you not quit when it seems nothing is moving?
The answer? (Ted Lasso style) is BELIEVE.
Dating Out of Your League
When I was a teenager I worked with a girl who was very pretty and we got along like two peas in a pod. For many years she was my best friend. There was one problem.
She had a boyfriend.
Did I try to break them up? No. That wouldn’t be cool.
I just kept being the best friend, and making sure we had fun together.
I knew that I was a better fit. I never criticized her boyfriend (he actually was a nice guy) but I knew (and everyone else noticed and asked, “Are you guys dating?) that I was a better fit.
Eventually after many long, long, YEARS - I got my shot. It was that amazing “Young Love” and it was amazing until it wasn’t (and she broke my heart).
How did I get through those years of waiting? BELIEF and FUN. I believed we would end up together, and I was having fun along the way.
Belief doesn’t mean be arrogant or cocky.
It’s understanding that you don’t know everything, and that you can learn the rest. It will take hard work, determination, and some luck. So find out who your audience is, make sure you are their favorite podcast about your topic and deliver what they want. Have fun while you do it, and believe.
We all hate those bad pitches, but now you can use them to get some exposure for your show. Just read the bad pitch (leave out the names, cause I don’t want to be sued) and explain why it’s bad, and who your preferred guest would be.

Lizzy Hale from the band Halestorm delivers an amazing performance. It’s fun when someone surprises you and you’re like, “Oh wow…” and before you recover from the first surprise they hit you with another one. I refer to this as “Singing Blood.”

A new movie about Sylvester Stallone and the making of the movie Rocky is coming out in NOVEMBER called “I am Rocky.” The actor playing Sly has his voice down pat. It’s an amazing story.
I’m On A Quest for a Retainer Tool
I’m looking to bump up my audio editing. One thing I was looking to do was have people pay me up front and then as I do the work, I take if off their retainer until I eventually send then another invoice. I found Honeybook. I’ve got a couple more I need to dig into. I love Wave for sending invoices, etc, but they don’t do the “monty on account” thing I’m looking for. Do you know of one?
